ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- A hot air balloon got untethered and took off during Friday night's Special Shape Glowdeo at the Balloon Fiesta Park.

According to the Balloon Fiesta's Twitter account, the special shape landed north of the park.

Viewer-submitted video showed it was one of the Mexican doll balloons, and Balloon Fiesta spokesperson Tom Garrity confirmed that information.

"The balloons primary pilot maintained control of his balloon to avoid crowds and traffic," Garrity said. "The pilot safely landed the balloon north of Balloon Fiesta Park, near an area where the fireworks show is staged."

Two crew members sustained minor injuries that did not need medical attention, Garrity said. The chase crew collected the balloon's envelope and returned to the park.

The Glowdeo events take place at night, and the balloons are tethered to the ground to prevent them from flying. There was no immediate word what caused the Mexican doll balloon to get loose.
