ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is truly a world-class event, attracting hundreds of thousands from across the globe.
Of course, they have to stay somewhere.
"We're getting guests from all over the world as far as Iceland, Canada, London, so it's really nice to see everyone come together," said Adrian Montoya, general manager of Hotel Albuquerque.
It's the best time of year for business, Montoya said. Most hotels are already booked up, and Montoya said some rooms have been reserved for months.
"There's always going to be those last minute rooms come up, but a year in advance is probably the best to do for any hotel in Albuquerque," Montoya said.
Hotels aren't the only option this year. KOB received a news release from Airbnb, saying:
Airbnb announced that Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta will attract a record-breaking 4,400 Airbnb guest arrivals to Duke City, a 130 percent increase from the week prior. Balloon Fiesta week will be the biggest in history for Airbnb in Albuquerque. During the world-renowned event, local hosts are expected to collectively earn $574,000 in supplemental income, a 220 percent increase from the week prior.
Other business will also get the Balloon Fiesta boost.
"When people are here they're going to eat, they're going to shop and that's really good for the locals," Montoya said.
