ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- No doubt Balloon Fiesta is one of the most photographed events in the world. It's hard to spot someone at the park without a phone or camera in their hand.
Camera maker Canon has some ways for you to up your photo game. There's a lot that goes into getting that perfect photo, starting with the simplest step.
"You have to get here nice and early," said Ken Sklute, a Canon explorer of light. "There are a lot of things going on [and] a lot of activities, so we're going to suggest you be in here by 5 in the morning."
It should be 5 a.m. at the latest if you want to get in line and take advantage of the opportunity to rent one of 300 cameras available, courtesy of Canon.
"Everything from a digital SLR to a small compact point-and-shoot, and they can use those to capture all their great memories here at Fiesta," Canon representative Brian Griggs said.
Those who rent equipment will also receive a free eight-gigabyte memory card.
"We can make still photographs, HD video, some of the cameras do 4K video, then we've got the ability to do time lapse as well," Sklute said.
If you're not sure about swapping out your smartphone for something more high-tech, Canon has a booth that can help.
"We have an ask the expert desk where they can visit with our photo experts and learn how to take great photos of the balloons as they ascend or the fireworks at night or anything in between," Griggs said.
Canon just renewed their sponsorship with the event, so they'll be helping visitors make lasting memories for at least the next three years. That includes Balloon Fiesta's 50th anniversary in 2020.
