Swiss team sets record in gas balloon race

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Balloon Fiesta officials say that Nicolas Tièche and Laurent Sciboz of Switzerland -- Team 6 in this year's America's Challenge gas balloon race – had a safe landing Tuesday morning north of Labrador City in Newfoundland, Canada, northwest of Quebec province.

According to the race tracker, the team's flight lasted 59 hours and 35 minutes, and covered a distance of 2,278 miles. Balloon Fiesta officials said that eclipses a previous distance record of 1,998.1 miles.
