ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- If you're a Balloon Fiesta fan, you 'll spend a lot of time watching balloons launch, but you can also get some great views when they land.

What goes up, must come down, and the magic of the "Albuquerque Box" means balloons could do both in the same place --  so there is a perk to waiting at the park for landings.

But if you miss your alarm, there are other locations to catch landings.

Vista Del Norte Park near Edith and Osuna rarely disappoints, and is often a first stop for KOB news crews chasing landings. With open room for balloons to land, your family has a chance to meet pilots firsthand.

There are also popular parking lots, such as the one near I-25 and Alameda. Just be sure to buy from a business if you're going to take a space.

Then there are various neighborhoods. Watch the sky and follow the flying colors -- just be polite to people living nearby.

A few more tips from the newsroom:

Don't be duped by a "splash and dash" -- they're fun to watch but likely not a final destination.

While winds will likely decide where a balloon's journey ends, KOB crews often have luck by starting the mornings headed toward Corrales and the West Side.

Remember to always put safety first when following balloons: no snapping pictures while driving, park in a safe area (not on the side of the road) and move out of the way for baskets.
