The annual race is watched all around the globe each year when it takes off from Balloon Fiesta.

This year’s race was won by Peter Cuneo and Barbara Fricke of Albuquerque.

They won the race after making it 1,400 miles to the small Missouri town of Monroe City.

Cuneo says they couldn’t have done it without their meteorologist.

“I like to say we drive the bus and he sets the route. So all we’re doing is following his instructions, and the better we follow his instructions the better we do. He is a genius when it comes to meteorology,” said Cuneo.

This win marked the 4th for the duo.
