ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- From power outages to waterline breaks, the Draft Station and 35 Degrees North Coffee had been through the wringer due to ART construction. After sewage water flooded the two establishments at the beginning of April, management was losing its positivity.

“It feels really overwhelming. You know initially our reaction is let’s try and be as supportive as we can but this is now the third situation that's happened with closures,” Robert Griego of Santa Fe Dining said at the time of the leak.

The two locations planned to close for a while to get everything in order and sanitized for reopening. However, as KOB learned this week, that won't be happening for at least the Draft Station.

In a statement on the businesses Facebook page, it was announced the Albuquerque location would be closing its doors for good. The social media pages for the coffee shop have been silent, but the signs on the outside of the business showing it’s for rent may point to a similar fate.

Businesses in the area say they believe both locations will be closing. For Garcia's Kitchen, which is next door to the Draft Station and coffee shop, it was especially disheartening to see potentially two businesses shut leave the community.

“We've become a little tight knit neighborhood here with our west downtown group and we have our marketing meetings twice a month and we've tried to turn this into a positive thing and sort of come together as neighbors. It's really tough that they're not going to be a part of that anymore,” said Miia Herbert of Garcia’s Kitchen.

KOB has tried several attempts over the last two weeks to reach management for comment about either of these locations closing, but calls and messages have not been returned.
