ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Albuquerque Police Department officials say they are investigating the shooting death of a 17-year-old man, now identified as Obed Cruz.

Police say they responded to a shooting call at the Plaza Feliz Apartment Complex on San Pablo in southeast Albuquerque around 1:30 p.m. Friday.

When they arrived they discovered Cruz shot to death in his home.

Police believe Obed had been playing video games and chatting with friends over a gaming headset. When he became unresponsive, one of those friends became worried and went to check on him.

They discovered he had been shot, according to police. Then that friend called law enforcement.

Homicide detectives have been working "non-stop to identify, locate and apprehend whoever is responsible" for Cruz's murder, APD Spokesperson Simon Drobik said Saturday. He said detectives currently have no suspect or leads to go off of.

APD is asking anyone with information to contact Albuquerque CrimeStoppers at 505-843-STOP.
