ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Police are continuing their investigation into a suspicious death reported in northwest Albuquerque Monday evening.

APD Public Information Officer Simon Drobik said officers found a deceased 16-year-old male with at least one gunshot wound on the 6000 block of Azuelo near the Petroglyph National Monument around 7:15 p.m. Monday.

The department's Crimes Against Children Unit responded since the death involved a juvenile, but it's not currently known if the wound was self-inflicted.

Drobik said police will treat the case "as suspicious until evidence leads them away from other suspects."

The teen was not identified.
