Lockheed Martin plans to lay off nearly 330 employees by September 30. That’s according to the Albuquerque Business First.

KOB spoke with a man who’s worked at Lockheed Martin for more than 10 years. He’s already gotten his letter.

Obviously he’s frustrated and doesn’t know what he’s going to do.

“We're all left in the dark,” he said. “We're still left in the dark.”

Many employees at Lockheed Martin in Albuquerque got their letters on August first.

“We were given a 60 day notice,” he explained. “Also a 30 day layoff notice.”

That notice let them know they would soon be out of a job

“Well people are trying to put their resumes out, land a job somewhere,” he said. “Some of them are hoping to get absorbed by a new company coming in, but the majority of us we have no idea what's happening.”

Albuquerque Business First says Lockheed Martin is cutting the jobs because it’s expected to lose an Air Force contract. A spokesperson with Lockheed Martin also said the layoffs were because of a U.S. Air Force decision.

Some workers are hoping to get new jobs with the new company.

“Now we have no idea whether this small business is going to be able to fulfill the job that we're doing,” he said.

The employee also heard the new company might keep about 70 percent of those laid off, but they won't know until next month.
