Lost hikers were found and rescued in Sandias Saturday

Two groups of hikers needed to be rescued from the Sandias Saturday night.

The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office says that two groups of hikers were reported lost have been found.

Three of the four people were located using the BCSO helicopter and had supplies dropped to them. Albuquerque Search and Rescue crews had to go in by foot but were forced to turn around at La Luz trail due to unsafe conditions.

The fourth hiker managed to make it to the Sandia Crest House and used the tram to get down. AFD Search and Rescue made it to the other hikers about 10 p.m. Saturday night.

No injuries have been reported.
