An eye-catching new mural has brightened up Zuni and Louisiana.

The mural is called “United in Diversity” and was created in collaboration between Artful Life, UNM’s Cinematic Arts Department, PNM and the Bosque School. The mural is directly outside the PNM substation that is there.

“The International District is one of the neighborhoods that has the least number of works of public art so we're really, really pleased to contribute this mural, something really visible at a very busy intersection that sort of expresses how the community feels about who they are,” said Valerie Martinez, founder of Artful Life.

The mural was designed by Bosque School students and the teacher but was inspired by photographs and paintings submitted by residents in the area.

Students, volunteers and PNM workers painted the mural in only a few days.
