PNM will eliminate about 30 management and staff positions, a spokesperson for PNM confirmed Monday afternoon.

PNM, the state’s largest electric utility, currently employs around 1,500 people, meaning the cuts would account for 2 percent of PNM’s workforce.

The utility has been considering how to reduce its costs for the past year, PNM spokesperson Pahl Shipley said in an email to KOB.

“We are constantly evaluating how we do things, and we examine best practices across our industry, which is responding to rapidly evolving technology, changing customer needs, increasing regulation, and other factors,” Shipley said.
