It's becoming a regular occurrence: people living in the Metro who are not backing down from crime. Instead, they're taking matters into their own hands.

Last month, a small business owner spent the night at his shop to catch a burglar.  He ended up shooting the intruder. A little more than a week ago, a couple took things to the extreme by tracking down an accused carjacker and allegedly torturing him.

Now, police say the district manager of a cellular chain in Albuquerque is the latest victim to not give into armed robbers. Police say he pulled up to the store just as the suspects were leaving and he shot at them. They got away, but not without injuries.

Police say Gina Gonzales is one of those suspects. She was shot by the manager and turned up at UNM Hospital within hours of the crime.

According to police, the 35-year-old Gonzales and a male accomplice walked into a Metro PCS near Broadway and Cesar Chavez about a week and a half ago and committed a robbery. The criminal complaint says the male suspect was "armed with a knife" as he led the store clerk to a safe while Gonzales took accessories off the wall.

As Gonzales and the man were getting away, the store's district manager arrived. He told police when the suspects started to flee and their "vehicle almost struck him, so he fired three shots at the tires, but missed."

Within two hours of the robbery, a woman who matched the description of the robbery suspect showed up at UNMH with a gunshot wound. When a police detective questioned Gonzales, she said a man named Patrick told her to go into the metro PCS and "pretend she was going to buy something" and that "he would do the rest."

Gonzales was arrested charged with conspiracy and armed robbery. She's currently being held on a $15,000 cash or surety bond. She has been arrested multiple times in the last three years for crimes including criminal trespassing and receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle.
