Gato Fire quickly extinguished Saturday

CIBOLA NATIONAL FOREST – A new blaze flared up in Cibola National Forest and National Grasslands near Mountainair Saturday morning.

Officials said it reached about 15 acres in size and was extinguished within a span of a few hours. It's unknown whether the small fire affected any structures nearby. 

At least three fire engines and a helicopter were used to slow down the fire’s progression, officials said.
