Students navigate underwater obstacles with robots

The 2017 Great Southwest Sea Perch Challenge was held at the West Mesa Aquatics Center.

The competition had students pilot remote controlled robots through two obstacle course under water.

"We're asking kids to create, invent, think critically using the math and science that they know," said Major Mark Hendricks.

Organizers said they hope this event will encourage kids to go into more STEM-related fields.
