Students at Manzano High School in Albuquerque are remembering classmate Erin Gonzales after police say she fell off the hood of a moving car on Wednesday when she fell off and was killed.
Classes were not scheduled at Manzano on Thursday because of parent/teacher conferences.
On Friday, a team of grief counselors will be on hand to help students deal with the loss.
A single rose now marks the spot where sophomore Erin Gonzales died.
Police say the Manzano student was riding on top of a moving car on Wednesday in a neighborhood near Tramway and Lomas when she fell off.
Police say she died from head injuries.
The district attorney's office is now deciding whether to file charges against the teen driver.
After learning of her death, fellow students are remembering Gonzales.
They describe her as quiet, polite and nice—someone who was always there for her friends.
They say she had just taken the PSAT, and was full of potential.
Classmate Cassidy Velez said, "If that didn't happen, she would have done something really good I think, like been something professional, like a doctor or something, I just knew she was one of those people."
Students say that they were posting messages on Myspace and Facebook on Wednesday—saying things like 'Rest in peace, Erin,' and also encouraging students to keep her in their prayers.
