A rock star experience for charity's supporters

Smashing guitars for a good cause.
People in Albuquerque got a chance to splinter some guitars on Saturday, all for a good cause.

Nine-year-old Lucas Fox explained how he was going to pulverize his guitar at Music Go Round on Menaul. "I'm going to smash it on the ground, then jump on it, then hit it against the wall over that pole back there," Lucas said.

The Guitar Smash event helps PB&J Family Services, which works to enhance a family member's sense of self-worth.

"This is one of our more creative fundraisers. This was a great idea. I'm kind of surprised that so many people wanted to smash guitars," PB&J Board Member Leann Holt said.

Dave Tvedt with Music Go Round said, "We're celebrating 10 years of being in business in Albuquerque. We're locally owned and a community oriented music store and we wanted to give back to the community."

The event turned out to be dangerous duty for the Eyewitness News 4 photographer who shot video at the event.

He got a little too close to the action and took one on the head for the team.

Other than a little scratch on the head, the photographer says he's just fine.
