ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A former Sandia National Laboratories worker has been sentenced to a year in prison and two years' probation for stealing from the federal government.
A federal judge also ordered Peter Micono, 49, to pay more than $113,000 in restitution.
Micono pleaded guilty in April to two counts of submitting false claims and two counts of theft of government property.
At the lab, he had the authority to purchase items from approved vendors. Federal prosecutors said he abuse his authority by buying more than $113,000 of computer equipment and selling it for personal gain.
The investigation into Micono's activity was conducted by the U.S. Department of Energy.
