DWI attorney guilty of driving drunk

An Albuquerque DWI defense attorney was found guilty of drunk driving Thursday afternoon.

John Higgins is serving 48 hours in jail followed by a year of probation.

Higgins was arrested in January after crashing his car into a curb near 12th and Mountain.

Police cameras captured Higgins arguing with officers, and that video had Judge Sharon Walton issuing some advice:

"I'm concerned by what I viewed in the videotape. I'm concerned for you. I would like to see you get alcohol counseling," Judge Walton said.

Higgins' lawyer had argued there was no proof his client was behind the wheel when the crash happened.
