Erisa Nakano is the Four Corners Bureau Chief for Eyewitness News 4.
Erisa came to KOB-TV in August 2009 from Phoenix, Arizona. She graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University in May 2009 with a B.A. in Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism and minor in Sociology.
Erisa wanted to be in journalism since high school, so as soon as she got to Arizona State, she joined the campus radio station KASC 1260 AM as a sports and news reporter and Sun Devil Television as a production assistant and associate producer of the 30-minute Sun Devil sports show, “Devils on the Deuce”. She had the pleasure of meeting Walter Cronkite, which motivated Erisa even more to pursue a career in journalism.
Aside from her radio reporting experience, Erisa wanted to be a producer and work behind the scenes. That was until her senior year when she took a television reporting course. As soon as she started going out on stories, asking the questions, and getting to know more about people firsthand, she knew she wanted to get into reporting.
During her time at Arizona State, Erisa anchored and reported news and sports for the award-winning student newscast Cronkite NewsWatch that aired live on KAET-TV. She also interned for KNXV-TV in Phoenix, Cox TeleVideo, and the Arizona Diamondbacks as a video editor and production assistant.
Born in Yokohama, Japan and raised in Phillips Ranch, California, Erisa considers herself a Southern California girl at heart, but she is excited to be a part of the KOB family and learn more about the people of New Mexico.
In her spare time, Erisa enjoys spending time with family and friends and going to the ballpark. She loves sports and is an avid baseball fan. Go Angels!
If you have a story idea, please feel free to contact Erisa.
