SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The state plans to disclose information about total spending by film companies receiving tax credits.

Gov. Bill Richardson announced Friday that aggregate figures for film production expenses in the state will be compiled by his administration. Totals will be disclosed on spending for categories such as New Mexico crew members, lodging and rentals of film equipment.

Even under the new policy, expenses about individual films will not be released publicly because the administration says it's confidential information.

New Mexico offers a 25 percent tax credit for certain film expenses. The governor says the incentive helps attract film productions to the state. However, the cost of the tax credits has grown more than expected and some legislators question whether the incentives should be limited.
