A robot being developed at Sandia National Labs could soon hop into battle, giving ground forces a needed tool in urban warfare.
The remote-controlled “Precision Urban Hopper” can leap over or onto obstacles up to 25 feet tall.
The robot uses a powerful leg to propel itself upward. Researchers hope the robot will allow troops to detect enemies without putting themselves in harm’s way.
