SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - Gov. Bill Richardson on Thursday created a task force to help tribes attract high wage jobs, benefit from the tourism and film industries and establish enterprise zones.

Richardson says the Tribal Economic Development Task Force will work to expand business opportunities on tribal lands and pueblos.

Other states have created Native American enterprise zones to attract business to tribal communities.

Richardson says the zones can be created through state-tribal collaboration. The tribes will retain sovereign authority over them.

Indian Affairs Secretary Alvin Warren says the task force will help improve the quality of life for Native Americans.

The task force will provide its recommendations to Richardson by the end of November.
