Mothers Against Drunk Driving is getting into the business of peddling margaritas and beer. Sounds unbelievable, but it's true.

The anti-drunk driving group will soon start selling non-alcoholic drinks in Albuquerque with its logo on bottles and cans.

MADD says its new non-alcoholic drinks will help people plan for a safe night out, but will it work? Depends on who you ask.

Bottles and cans labeled as "virgin merlot" and "virgin margarita" with the MADD logo are coming to a store near you.

They're just some of the examples of non-alcoholic drinks that MADD hopes will appeal to sober designated drivers trying to fit in at bars and house parties.

The drinks will contain zero percent alcohol.

Loralee Ortiz, executive director of MADD in New Mexico, says the new non-alcoholic drinks will be a positive factor in helping people plan out for a safe night out with a designated driver.

"What else are you trying to drink besides water and sodas?" Ortiz said. "And so we're trying to get alternatives." The drinks are expected to hit shelves around the country and locally sometime around the holidays.

Some of the money made will go to MADD.
