UNM men's basketball coach Steve Alford lost a friendly wager with Albuquerque Journal beat writer Mark Smith. Alford, a longtime Pittsburgh Steelers fan, lost a lunch bet with Smith on Sunday's Steelers-Bengals game. When asked about losing the bet, Alford responded, "I told him 'I'll lose a one day bet and a one lunch to you (Mark), you still have to wake up every day and root for the Bengals.'"
