State police are helping parents keep track of their children at Balloon Fiesta.
Over the last three days, officers have registered about 1,200 kids at Fiesta Park for the Tag Your Tots Program. Kids are issued a wrist band and their information is put in a database. If the child gets lost, the info on the band matches up with the info in the Tag Your Tots database.
The Tag Your Tots program is free and you only have to do it once. If you go back to another event, as long as your kid holds onto that wristband, it will still work.
Police say with so many distractions at the Fiesta—both on the ground and in the air—it's important parents take a minute to register their kids. Sgt. Kevin Bruno says even cautious parents can lose track of their kids.
"It happens to everybody. Responsible or not, it happens to everybody," he said.
State police register about 50,000 kids under the age of 6 in the program every year during the Fiesta.
