Investing in solar panels could mean your electric company sending you money every month.
KOB director Bob Jensen and his wife Suzi are installing solar panels on their roof. Representatives with Direct Power and Water say this kind of system can cost up to $40,000, but it pays for itself.
"The home owner would get a system that would zero out their electric bill, based on the PNM direct credit as well as the metering that we have available in our state," said the company's Kevin Goodreau.
New Mexicans can also take advantage of a 10 percent state tax credit and a 30 percent federal tax credit.
The Jensens say they won't even have to pay sales tax on labor, materials or installation. Plus, they will get a payment each month from PNM for the energy they produce.
