CARLSBAD, N.M. (AP) - Steelworkers at a federal underground nuclear waste repository in southeastern New Mexico have accepted a new contract.

The United Steel Workers International says a large majority of the union's members at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant voted for the contract.  The votes were counted Wednesday.

Union vice president Kip Phillips says the two-year contract calls for a 3.75 percent pay increase each year.  He says the contract also addresses concerns about seniority.

Two weeks ago, the workers rejected an earlier contract offer from the facility's operator, Washington TRU Solutions.  Local 9477 of the United Steel Workers then gave the company two weeks to come up with another offer.
