Washington U releases findings on researcher
Posted at: 10/16/2009 11:35 AM
(AP) ST. LOUIS - A committee at Washington University did not find sufficient evidence that researcher Timothy Kuklo falsified a study, but said he had violated two school policies in his work. Kuklo took leave in May and resigned in September after allegations that he inflated data in a study about a bone growth drug used to treat wounded soldiers. He performed the study before coming to Washington University in St. Louis. Medtronic Inc., the maker of the drug Infuse, had paid Kuklo more than $800,000 in consulting fees over the years. His lawyer, Henry Dane, said Friday that Kuklo submitted paperwork to the school shortly after arriving in 2006 showing a consulting relationship with Medtronic. The school said the researcher had violated its research integrity and human subject research policies. (Copyright 2009 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.) |
