NM small business gets national honor

John Chavez said the grant and the publicity is a big boost for the company
A New Mexico business serving the Four Corners is the winner of a highly-publicized nationwide contest.
NBC and American Express announced "Sacred Wind Communications" was voted the most inspiring small business in their "Shine a Light" contest on Monday.
Sacred Wind Communications provides phone and Internet access to the Navajo community.
The company was awarded a $100,000 grant plus it got national recognition on NBC's Today Show.
Sacred Wind Communications beat out thousands of other small business from across the county.
"It's going to really boost us in the direction where they know we have done something that other phone companies haven't done," employee John Chavez said.
Employees said it was a shock to see their company on the Today Show. The company plans to divide the grant money between business marketing and student scholarships.
