ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) - An Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell instructor faces two felony counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor after an incident last month in which he is accused of inappropriately touching one of his male students.
The 17-year-old victim told state police investigators his automotive technician instructor, 38-year-old James Ogas, grabbed his buttocks and crotch and called him "sexy."
The victim also reportedly received letters from Ogas, some offering moral support and quoting Bible scripture, and others where Ogas asked the victim to sneak out of his home to meet up at a bar.
When questioned by investigators, Ogas denied touching the victim. He admitted writing the letters but says it was a joke.
Ogas has been suspended by the university.
