TUCUMCARI, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico State Police say two people from Atlanta have been arrested and will be extradited back to Georgia to face federal drug trafficking charges.

According to authorities, two officers from the Tucumcari state police office arrested 41-year-old Camilo Sport, a federal fugitive, and 21-year-old Asunsio Martinez.

The U.S. Marshall's office had received a tip that Sport, a federal fugitive who allegedly has links to a drug cartel in Mexico, was in New Mexico.

State police said Wednesday that their officers moved in to prevent Sport and Martinez from getting away. After the two were apprehended, police say, they were placed in federal custody.
