Santa Fe County is all out of flu vaccine, prompting free clinics to be canceled, and officials say they have no idea when they'll start back up.

On Thursday, the county canceled all of its flu shot clinics until further notice.

It says it has run out of regular flu shots, and the H1N1 flu vaccines that are arriving are for high-risk people only.

The state's Department of Health says there is a shortage of seasonal flu vaccine due to high demand and lower supply, because companies have been focusing on producing the H1N1 vaccine.

The state health department has used up most of it's 200,000 available flu vaccines, and as the vaccine ran out in Santa Fe, many people were not happy.

Santa Fe County Health and Human Services Director Steve Shepard said, "There has been a few people upset we had a few clinics that were heavily advertised and we didn't know how many people we were going to get a we got overwhelmed and some folks were angry when we ran out."

The department of health says they are holding off on scheduling any public H1N1 flu clinics until they have enough vaccinations to deal with a large public turnout.

They are expecting more shipments of both regular and H1N1 vaccines in coming weeks.

Some private clinics and hospitals have announced that they are ready to start giving out the H1N1 vaccine.
