Balloon Fiesta organizers are still tallying up the attendance numbers, but they do know they set a new record for the number of people who used park-and-ride.

Some of those people who bought their tickets online are realizing they were charged too much.

Tens of thousands of people who chose not to drive to Balloon Fiesta Park and wait in those long lines went online to buy their park-and-ride tickets.

They got a discounted price, but some also got double-billed. This year, 68,000 Balloon Fiesta park-and-ride tickets were sold online — 14,000 more than last year.

Miram Rand is one of those who decided the park-and-ride was the best way to go.

"I think it's the easiest way to do the balloon fiesta, you don't have to wait in traffic, and it's safe and sort of fun to be with people who are looking forward to being part of Balloon Fiesta," Rand said.

She didn't have any problems buying the tickets online as some others did.

In fact, so many people went online during the weekends and special shape events, the system froze—causing some people to submit their credit card information twice. That caused them to get billed twice.

"I didn't hear that," Rand said. "I'm surprised it didn't happen to me."

That wasn't the only problem, according to Balloon Fiesta officials.

"Sometimes, if the tickets were printed, they were printed without a barcode, so they were asked to bring those tickets to the remote lots and we would honor those tickets," Balloon Fiesta Spokeswoman Kathie Leyendecker said.

She says the technical staff for the event is already working out the kinks for next year, and trying to find ways to prevent double-billing from happening again.

The people who have come forward with double-billing problems have been fully reimbursed.

Officials say if you have been double-billed, contact Balloon Fiesta at 821-1000 or at balloonfiesta.com and the problem will be taken care of.
