ROSWELL, N.M. (AP) - The Roswell Chamber of Commerce has reinstated its certificate of incorporation last month after violating the state statute for more than two years.

The New Mexico Public Regulation Commission says the Roswell chamber was reinstated as a domestic nonprofit corporation on Sept. 23. Before that, it had been operating without being incorporated since July 2, 2007.

That means the chamber operated for an extended period of time without the legal ability to make contracts, borrow money or issue bonds.

A PRC attorney says the chamber was "administratively revoked" on July 2, 2007, for failing to file an annual nonprofit corporate report.

Chamber of Commerce executive director Dorrie Faubus-McCarty says the 2006 corporate report was inadvertently overlooked by a previous director.
