South Valley school lockdown lifted

Ernie Pyle and Rio Grande were put on lockdown around 2:30 this afternoon

APS has lifted lockdowns at all South Valley schools after a two-hour search for an armed suspect.

Ernie Pyle and Kit Carson Middle Schools and Rio Grande High School students were supposed to get out around 3:00 p.m. But after an armed man fled from sheriff's deputies in the area, all three schools were put on lockdown around 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.

Kit Carson, which was on a school-wide lockdown, began letting students home around 3:00 p.m.. However, Rio Grande and Ernie Pyle students weren't allowed to leave school until around 5:00 this evening.

BCSO say a Hispanic man was pulled over this afternoon and he pulled a gun on an officer. A chase ensued,

The man was taken into custody Tuesday evening.
