FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico native is set to work his second World Series as an umpire.

Mike Everitt, a 1982 graduate of Aztec High School, is part of the crew working the games that start Wednesday night between the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies.

Everitt also umpired the 2007 World Series between the Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies.

He says he's "excited, a little bit nervous, but very blessed and very fortunate to be picked to do it."

Everitt has been a major league umpire since June 1996. Before that, he worked 12 seasons in the minors.

He learned of his World Series assignment after working the National League Division Series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and St. Louis Cardinals earlier this month.
