SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - State Environment Department officials have worked out an agreement to clear underground contamination so construction can resume on a $58 million Santa Fe County courthouse project.

Two separate contracting crews will remove soil and water polluted by old gasoline storage tanks. The project stalled last spring after hydrocarbon pollution was found at the site.

The state-led cleanup effort will take place outside the county's project area, allowing county contractors to undertake a simultaneous effort inside the project boundaries. After that, work will resume on erecting the new judicial complex.

The courthouse is expected to be finished by April 2012.
