Teacher accused of sex with middle school student

APS was rocked by allegations Wednesday that a middle school teacher had sex with one of her students.

Police arrested 33-year-old Kristy Sanchez Trujillo Wednesday night. They got a tip that the Jimmy Carter Middle School social studies teacher was having an affair with a 13-year-old boy who attends the school.

At this point, police say the sexual contact did not happen at the school and don't think any other students are involved.

Police say they found out about the incident because Sanchez Trujillo told another teacher and that teacher turned Sanchez Trujillo in.

Police say the teacher told them that the relationship simply started out as a student teacher relationship, but it spilled outside of school this week.

They say the teacher and 13-year-old saw some movies and were talking on the phone.

We are told the teacher was jailed, and has since been released-- charged with three counts of rape. APS has already fired Sanchez Trujillo.

Sanchez Trujillo is one of five children of Chris Sanchez who is currently campaigning to replace outgoing sheriff Darren White.
