It will be against the law for the military to get rid of Kirtland's 150th fighter wing.

President Obama signed a defense spending bill Wednesday that includes a measure requiring the Air Force to find a new mission for the Tacos.

Congressman Martin Heinrich inserted a measure in a house bill and got an Oklahoma senator to help get it passed in the senate.

There was talk of retiring the fighter wing because the military is phasing out its F-16 fighter jets.
