People who need assistance to pay their heating bill this winter can start applying for help now.

The Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program helps eligible families pay for natural gas, electricity, and other heating sources like propane and firewood.

This year, people are expected to get an average of $150 in benefits.

You can apply for the program at your local human services department office.
