The driver of the SUV suffered a medical episode, say police

An SUV slammed into the back of a UNM shuttle Sunday afternoon, sending two people to the hospital.

The crashed happened around 3:00 p.m. on University north of Lomas. Albuquerque police say the driver suffered a medical episode while she was driving and hit the back of the moving bus.

Police say the bus driver was wearing a seatbelt but he was taken to the hospital along with the driver of the SUV.

"The driver of the bus is in stable condition," said APD spokesperson Nadine Hamby. "He's got complaints only."

Hamby says there are concerns for the SUV's driver not because of the crash, but because of other medical conditions she has.

A passenger in the SUV was also treated for minor injuries. There weren't any passengers on the bus.
