Albuquerque police believe that a man being held in a Pueblo, Colorado jail is the man who raped a series of Albuquerque women back in the 1990s.

Albuquerque police confirmed to the Albuquerque Journal (subscription) that 47-year-old Robert Bruce, currently in jail for allegedly attempting to blow up a police officer’s home last month, was the man responsible for the “Ether Man” rapes.

During the early 1990s, a man broke into at least 11 homes in the University of New Mexico area and put a chemical soaked rag over women’s nose and mouth, rendering them unconscious.
