Man sentenced to more than 30 years for role in murder

A judge sentenced Jason Skaggs to 30 1/2 years in prison for his role the mistaken identity murder of Scott Pierce.

He pled guilty to second degree murder in July of this year.

Skaggs said he and serial killer Clifton Bloomfield shot and killed Pierce in June 2008 inside the newlywed's Albuquerque home. He and his wife had just moved into the residence, and the pair of killers were looking for a previous resident.

Skaggs apologized for his role in the murder.

Bloomfield will spend the rest of his life behind bars after confessing to five murders.
