ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico's veterans will be honored at memorial events around the state Wednesday on Veterans Day.

Members of New Mexico's congressional delegation also issued statements to remember the state's veterans.

Sens. Jeff Bingaman and Tom Udall both mentioned last week's shootings at the Fort Hood Army Base in Texas that killed 13 people.

Udall says the tragedy brings the service and sacrifice of veterans into even sharper focus.

Bingaman says President Barack Obama has vowed to increase the Veterans Affairs budget by $25 billion over the next five years to provide more services for veterans.

Among the ceremonies around New Mexico, the Vietnam Veteran Memorial State Park in Angel Fire will feature veterans' stories during its memorial.
