Carlos Fierro

A prominent Santa Fe attorney convicted of vehicular homicide for striking a man with his BMW and killing him while intoxicated was sentenced to six years behind bars Friday.

Carlos Fierro's sentencing hearing was preceded by him entering a no contest plea to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident - the only count against Fierro that the jury couldn't reach a verdict on.

With time served and good behavior, Fierro could be released in three years.

Fierro and former State Police Sergeant Alfred Lovato had spent an evening last November drinking before Fierro struck William Tenorio outside of a blues club in Santa Fe.
