Albuquerque police are trying to piece together who would have beat a man so violently that when he was first discovered in Albuquerque’s North Valley it was assumed he was dead.

At about 5:00 Monday evening, a person walking near Montano and Second Street discovered the body of a man in an arroyo.

When police arrived, they discovered that the victim was actually alive. Police say that he suffered violent trauma.

Investigators were trying to identify the man Tuesday morning because he didn’t have any identification when he was found.

Officials don’t know if the man was attacked randomly or was targeted.
