Albuquerque police have positively identified a man found with a gunshot wound at 2nd and Montano on Monday as Manuel Gutierrez III of San Juan County.

Gutierrez, who is wanted for murdering the mother of his children in San Juan County, was found Monday evening in Albuquerque with a gunshot wound to the head, according to San Juan deputies.

He is currently on life support and not expected to survive, according to APD.

Gutierrez is wanted for shooting and killing Kristin Chavez, the mother of his three children.

The ID was made through fingerprint records.

Chavez was found shot to death on Sunday near the town of Blanco, just east of Farmington, according to San Juan County sheriff's deputies.

Deputies say the couple's three children were in the home when the shooting happened. They say their grandmother was also there, and when she heard the gunshots, she took the kids out of the home.

APD says it is investigating the case as a potential homicide.
