(AP) AMMAN, Jordan - A Jordanian police official says a corporal who was critically wounded in street protests last month has died, the second fatality from violence linked to protests against price hikes.
The official says 31-year-old Ahmad Maqableh died of his wounds late Friday.
Maqableh was shot in the right eye during an attack by gunmen on a police station in Amman on Oct. 14.
A week of street violence that began Oct. 13 has battered this close U.S. ally, with some demonstrators calling on Jordan’s king to step down. One protester was killed and 75 others, including 57 policemen excluding the corporal, were wounded.
The official spoke Saturday, insisting on anonymity because he is not allowed to make press statements.
